well it can be done! you can put a 07 slip on onto an 08 stock header here is the how to with pics!
1. remove both side fairings to access exhaust and cat

2. use either a cutting wheel or a hacksaw to remove the cat right up against the weld. i had to use both. cause the wheel wore down on me, the yellow is from the hacksaw blade

3.once the cat is out of the way put a small bevel on the edge of the header, you will need to do this the help get the mid pipe up onto the header. it will go, may need a little elbow grease. i had to put a 2x4 against the back of the mid can and tap it with a hammer. the 2x4 will keep from damaging the pipe, i promise just dont get carried away with it! make sure to put the clamp on before you start tapping it on.

4.make sure to tap it all the way till it touches the weld for the SET valve. you may have to slide the spring towards you to keep from pinching it. but it moves easily with one finger

5.from here you can just follow the instructions, its just like installing on a 06-07 from here! the side mounts for the under can on the yosh where tough to get lined up but they will so be patient, once its all done you cant tell its not suppost to be on that bike!

i took the bike out for a test run, and it feels great! power everywhere! there is no popping on decel. pipe sounds good and crisp and by the seat of the pants dyno there is for sure more ponies on the ground now! i hope this helps everyone with the agrivation of the damn cat and what to do for a slip on exhaust system
Took some time to do but well worth it, sounds like a proper bike now and it feels much better too.....

BELLY PAN MUFFLER:
PS: the bolt circled below threw me a curve ball.
i couldn't find any way to get a wrench back there to hold the nut so i spot welded the nut into place onto the bracket attached to the muffler. works like a charm. i used some rtv silicone high temp with copper in all seals and seems to be a success so far. if it starts to leak later on down the road, i'll just weld it up nice and clean. also i've noticed if you cut an arc in muffler connector (shown in square) to cup the SET valve weld then the muffler/holes line-up like a champ.
